Vaccinations begin for UIB students on clinical placements

University of the Balearic Islands students registered on the degrees in Health Sciences and Education who are doing clinical placements, as well as placements at care homes, drug treatment centres and education centres, amongst others, have started to be vaccinated against COVID-19 as part of the Regional Government of the Balearic Islands Vaccination Plan.

This affects over two thousand UIB undergraduate and master's students who are undertaking placements linked to professional groups that have been vaccinated to date. This includes students on Medicine, Nursing and Physiotherapy, Psychology, Early Childhood Education and Primary Education courses, as well as on other degrees and postgraduate courses where laboratory placements are run.

According to the stipulations in the Plan, professionals in groups 3A, 3B3, 3B4, 3B7, 3B8 and 3C1 have started to be vaccinated as part of the Balearic Islands Vaccination Plan including health and social healthcare staff, as well as other healthcare professionals: psychologists; physiotherapists; veterinarians; ophthalmologists; home care assistants; occupational therapists; dental technicians; chiropodists; staff at the blood and tissue bank; dieticians; laboratory staff; optometrists and optician's assistants, and inspectors at the National Institute of Social Security. Vaccinations have also started for other priority groups linked to student placements at the UIB.
