UIB researchers discuss COVID-19

Since the Spanish government declared the state of emergency and most of us are on lockdown, and since our normality has been drastically transformed, we believe that the situation makes everyone turn to reflection and analysis, especially the scientific community of which you are part. Reality shows the importance and scale of science to move forward every day and find a way to overcome and control both the health and social emergency.

This is why the Science Culture Unit and the Office of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Innovation and Institutional Relations have set up a space on the UIB website so that you can share your reflections and contributions related to the current pandemic.

Indeed, the media have asked for this connection between you and the general public. Some have already published discursive articles that could held people better understand certain aspects of what we are experiencing as a society. These documents will also be shared here so that those who so wish can re-read, look up and reconsider the issues whenever they like.

Article length and format

Articles may come from any knowledge area. They should be between 800 and 1,000 words long and be submitted in a publishable format. If you would like to include images, graphs or other document types, they should be attached as separate files or photo galleries. You may submit articles in Catalan, Spanish or English and, where applicable, the university may translate the original into the other two languages to publish them on the university's website. Where they are deemed suitable for publication, the UIB will contact you to ask for your permission to send the article to a newspaper or platform, such as The Conversation.

You may send your articles to the following e-mail: culturacientifica@uib.cat.

We hope that you are all well and that we will soon be able to see one another in the corridors and classrooms on the different university campuses, in the gym, in the labs or at the library. This will be the sign that we have got back to the 'normality' we all so miss right now.
