Over 350 healthcare workers around Spain have signed-up and the deadline for participation will remain open until 560 workers are registered

Researchers from different health research institutes, universities, hospitals and other benchmark health institutions are undertaking the PsiCovidApp study led by the UIB and the IdISB. The project is a randomised clinical trial to assess the effectiveness of a psychological programme aimed at protecting healthcare workers from common mental health issues associated with situations like the present (depression, PTSD, occupational burnout or anxiety). These mental health problems tend to occur at the start of a crisis situation or when it begins to subside, and can lead to a long-term negative impact.

The project researchers have development a psychosocial programme that may be used online via mobile phones. It will be assessed in a randomised clinical trial lasting two weeks and will then be rolled out large-scale to be made freely available to all healthcare workers interested in using it.

The study aims to recruit 560 healthcare professionals. Any health worker may take part (from any speciality or group) who has cared for COVID-19 patients. Those wishing to participate can do so at the following link: <https://forms.gle/uo1cT3fT4AAxGzV1A>.

So far, 350 healthcare professionals from different autonomous regions have signed up, mainly from the Balearic Islands (29%), Andalusia (18%), Madrid (17%) and Catalonia (13%). Although the study is open to healthcare workers from any category, most of those registered are doctors (42%), nurses (35%) and nursing auxiliaries (10%). By speciality, most participants so far work in general internal medicine (21%), ICUs (16%), A&Es (11%) and family medicine (10%).
