If you are working from home, take extra precautions against computer viruses too

The CCN-CERT, a division at the National Cryptology Centre charged with managing cyber security incidents in the public sector and at strategic companies and organisations in Spain, has warned that there has been a major increase in malware campaigns using COVID-19 topics to infect computers around the world.

There are currently over 24,000 registered internet domains containing the terms: coronavirus, corona-virus, covid19 and covid-19. Over half of these - 16,000 - have been created in March (10,000 in last week alone). Some are legitimate sites but others are used for spam, phishing or command and control attacks. Trojans have also been spotted that have altered their coding to avoid detection by using news items linked to Coronavirus.

We therefore ask you to take extra preventive measures against computer viruses too. The following link contains advice from the CNN-CERT. As the attached document states, 'we will not get a cure for Coronavirus via e-mail'.
